about

Originally intended to be a tune in which we could "blow over some changes", it quickly became a jam rock vehicle. The theme to the written section came from perusing through "Nicolas Slomaninsky's Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns", (sounds pretty official, doesn't it). It took me over a year to realize that it sounded sort of Celtic. Throw in a little latin change, a revamp of the intro in 5/4 reggae, some samba keyboards with a heavy metal ECMish (love that word) interlude, a big jam and a return the intro theme (most times) and you have a tune! The jam has gone in all kinds of directions on this one. You can make what you want of the lyrics.

lyrics

VERSE ONE
Mother don't think I'm stupid,
she thinks I act that way.
Mother don't think I'm stupid,
she thinks I act that way.
Mother don't think I'm stupid,
she thinks I act that way.
Mother don't think I'm stupid,
she says little boy behave.

VERSE TWO
Little friendly consumer packages,
marching on and on.
Little friendly consumer packages,
marching on and on.
Little friendly consumer packages,
marching on and on.
Little friendly consumer packages,
marching on and on.

VERSE THREE
Don't doubt the doubt,
ask what it's about.
Don't doubt the doubt,
ask what it's about.
Don't doubt the doubt,
ask what it's about.
Don't doubt the doubt,
look inside your head.
